The Magic of Orginary Days

Within you
there is a stillness
and a sanctuary
to which you can retreat
any time.

Life is just a bowl of cherries!

Life is just a bowl of cherries
Don't take it serious,
Life's too mysterious
You work,
You save,
You worry so
But you can't take your dough
When you go, go, go

Happy Memorial Day

Patriotism consists not in waving the flag,
but in striving that our country
shall be righteous as well as strong.
Happy Memorial Day !!

On the Dunes

Just as the sand-dunes, heaped one upon another,
hide each the first, so in life the former deeds are
quickly hidden by those that follow after.

Winter Window

Someone painted pictures on my
Windowpane last night --
Willow trees with trailing boughs
And flowers, frosty white,

And lovely crystal butterflies;
But when the morning sun
Touched them with its golden beams,
They vanished one by one.

Wild ghosts escape from dreams.
Each monster dances in the park....

Rain on the Window

Well, I'm home...back from my trip to Colorado and here I am posting the very last photo I took. This was taken from the kitchen window of our cabin in Big Bear. The first time I'd seen rain since I left California, two weeks earlier. Thanks to the terrible drought, much of Colorado was looking like high desert with so much sage popping up where tall green grass usually grows. I just hope that the jet stream sent this much needed moisture east to my second favorite state.

Summer Breeze

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes,
and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit.
A few of those days and you can become drunk
with the belief that all's right with the world.

Let's Go Surfing

Surfing, alone among sports, generates laughter at its very suggestion,
and this is because it turns not a skill into an art,
but an inexplicable and useless urge into a vital way of life.

I like to ride my bike!

i like to ride my bike
on the road,
to the beach,
to the sea,
to wherever

it takes me.

A Summer Place

I wonder what it would be like
 to live in a world
 where it was always June.

Summer Vacation

We hit the sunny beaches where we occupy ourselves keeping the sun off our skin,
the saltwater off our bodies, and the sand out of our belongings.

Old homes! old hearts! Upon my soul forever
Their peace and gladness lie like tears and laughter.
